Nate Thiel - Reading From Landscapes of the Sacred 2

“I saw nothing unusual – only a woman I noticed on the opposite side of the wheel as I made my way halfway around it.” (Lane, 40)

I find it very hard to believe that someone could be so thick-skinned that he would not even recognize the woman he was married to for thirty-one years. I have been in many extremely enchanting places, such as Northern Canada for the Northern Lights, but not one of them has enthralled me to the point where I do not recognize the people I care about. There have been time and places that have taken me to another world – one of peace and quietness – yet I was still able to be cognizant of my surroundings. Also, if there was food at the Medicine Wheel left for those in need, why would this couple help themselves? They were not in need of it; they were only camping for one night. The couple seems to be very inconsiderate to those whom actually need help, food and shelter.
