"...in face, a space or place is often experienced as most sacred by those who perceive it at risk of being desecrated by the very forces-economic, social, and political-that made its consecration possible in the first place." pg 63 I think this quote from Landscapes of the Sacred is very true. People don't usually realize how great something is or how much it means to you until it is taken away. Trees from national parks or a famous waterfall being victim of a drought are just two examples. Places like these can be very important to people, especially those who enjoy the beauty and life of the outdoors. But the sacred place it holds in your heart is never noticed until its about to be gone. Maybe if people stop taking things in their life for granted, whether they are the little things or not, will help them always recognize how amazing things are.
