Nate Thiel - Making Nature Sacred 3

“It is hard to escape the sense mastery as the stars move in the wide clear heavens to risings and settings unobscured. They look large and near and palpitant; as if they moved on some stately service not needful to declare.” – page 161

I would completely agree with this statement. I have been in the wilderness several times before, many with no lights within 400 miles, and I must say that I was awe-struck almost every time. The sense that the stars are strategically placed into motion masterfully is very hard to escape, sometimes coming upon you unexpectedly. In all honesty, it was the most free I have ever felt. Feeling this sense frees your body to the state that nothing can bother you, not mosquitoes, not flies, not cold, nothing. It is an awesome experience and I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take the adventure.
