John Weatherford- Landscapes of the Sacred #1

In Landscapes of the Sacred, Lane uses four axioms that help a student of American spirituality understand sacred place. I found the third axioms to be very interesting. The axiom says that “sacred place can be tred upon without being entered.” To me this axiom says that a sacred place has different means or importance to different people. One person could believe a certain tree to be sacred while another just sees that same tree as in other tree in the woods. I found this axiom interesting because at first I thought of a sacred place as something everyone feels sacred. The axiom helped me understand that people have different feelings towards sacred places.
