Chad Adams - Experiencing Nature: An Island

This past weekend I went to one of my good friend's house in VA beach. His house is on the water, he has a boat, wake boards, and jet ski's. It's all pretty legit. Me and my friend got two of his kayaks and just started paddling away. We ended up on a small island that was located inside the bay. We just hung out on the island, smoked a little, and just appreciated the "chillness" and solitude of the island. It gave me a feeling of dependence and the feeling that i just conquered or found my own untouched island. I felt like Tom Hanks on cast away for a little bit there, and started imagining how even a few days on an island by yourself could effect your point of view of life and everything around you. We went for a walk around the small island and saw a pretty mean looking, but kind of small snake. I must admit that snakes kind of creep me out, so I didn't investigate or even go close to the snake, but after seeing the snake, I kind of realized how the island wasn't mine but was more part of an ecosystem. An ecosystem with fish, bugs, snakes, snails, humans and all kinds of good stuff. It was pretty cool feeling independent and feeling like we were separated from the every day life we live.
