Nicole Jacobs - Making Nature Sacred #2

In Gatta's book Catherine L. Albanese attempts to "establish religions with palpable experience of America's woods, fields, seascapes, and open air." This goal sets a good bar for American's, as stated earlier in the reading Americans have based their lives morals and culture around religion such as Christian beliefs. By focusing more on the "nature religion" individuals can establish their own natural experiences without being blinded by a preexisting, inherited belief. Having this applied to my own life, I've noticed church and "acts of god" were more important than the smaller creations that add up to large numbers that were established by the same figure. By experiencing nature individuals can experience god in a new more exotic nature. Instead of being taught the bible or sitting during church, individuals would be given the opportunity to see god at work by exploring the wilderness and opening ones mind.
