Kelsey Woods- Making Nature Sacred
In Making Nature Sacred Gatta talks about how deep spiritual experiences can occure during thunderstorms. This made me think about when I was really little and would be intimidated by storms, my mother would tell me that the noise was God going bowling. I used to imagine a giant bowling alley looming over me in the sky; a huge man with long hair and a big smile would prep, sprint, and launch the ball for a strike everytime. One night I couldn't sleep because of how loud a storm was and I can remember thinking "Doesn't he ever get tired of winning?". Now that I am older I love storms. Occasionally I'll sit and watch them from a window, but I usually can't help but to go run outside in them. Its funny how I went from fearing a storm's power to being able to admire its beauty. I feel like this is an example of my entire view of nature. I used to fear getting lost in the woods, getting attacked by animals, or having to touch a bug, but now I hate that no matter where you go in a park you see people, animals are actually too skiddish to come near you, and while I don't love bugs, I can usually keep my cool around them. I have developed a sense of admiration and respect towards nature, especially thunderstorms.
