Brynne Valla--Outside Reading #2

Recently I read an article on the formation of the Grand Canyon. While it was not particularly interesting, I found it to be informative nonetheless. The article talked about how no one really knows exactly how the Canyon formed. However, most people speculate that water erosion contributed the most to its formation. The next biggest contributor is ice, followed by wind erosion. Although the article says nothing about spirituality or spiritual encounters experienced at the Grand Canyon, I think having this knowledge and then visiting the park concedes a deeper appreciation for the intricacies of each crevice and out cave. Having been to the Grand Canyon myself, I believe that one can have a spiritual encounter when he or she realizes the magnitude of God's creation, simply by gazing out into the Colorado River or elsewhere in the Canyon. The article provided me with a deeper appreciation of the sights I saw a few years ago, and hopefully the next time I visit the Grand Canyon, I will look at it in a new light with the facts of its formation in mind.
