The Forest People by Colin Turnbull
After reading this entire book twice, I decided that if I could live any other lifestyle and with any other group of people very much different from Western traditions, it would be with the BaMButi. They are a small pygmy tribe living in rainforests of Africa along with several other similar tribes. Even though they may not lead luxurious lifestyles according to our beliefs, their way of life is truly the way to go. They love nature. They spend all day outside singing and communing and relaxing. Everything they do is purposeful. There never seems to be any stress and everyone is carefree. The community is very tight-nit and family oriented. Just the way they are so in touch with nature and how much they respect it makes me want to try living like them and experiencing a totally different way of living. I would recommend anyone to read this amazing book because you will truly fall on love with this amazing people.
