Katelyn Almeda: Experiencing Nature as an Archeologist

My friend, Charlie, is an archeologist. He gets to work hands on with nature every day. I was talking to him about his job and the experiences that he’s had and he said that he feels much more comfortable and at peace while he is working in the woods. He gets to be away from busy, everyday society and just relax and think. I asked him what his favorite part of being an archeologist was. He said that he loves when he finds places that humans don’t normally get to see, like hidden waterfalls and beaver dams. Charlie also gets to see all types of animals while he is working, especially different types of birds and deer. He said that sometimes he feels as if he is communicating with them when they make eye contact. I thought this was really awesome and it makes me want to go out into nature more often. I feel like sometimes I take its beauty for granted and I need to take the time to appreciate it more often. He said that he would take me to work with him sometime soon. I can’t wait!
