Justin Mawdsley-lane reading response

"The most primordial response of the human spirit in reacting to a place associated with deep mystery...The place is ritually cordoned off as inherently dissimilar from its surroundings." (page 46)

A rooftop, a simple thing, it sits above your house (or building) and provides shelter for whatever is underneath it. There's a rooftop near my house that not only provides shelter to a day car and a church, but it also provides me with a place to get away, a sort of spiritual escape for me, a spiritual shelter maybe (if you're a fan of metaphors). But it really is, whenever i need to get away from the world i go to this rooftop just down the road from me located at the Korean church. I go ther to find myself again. Sometimes i bring my I-Pod and listen to music and just lose myself, or other times i'll just sit there and take in the surrounding atmosphere, one full of change throughout the year, which helps contribute to it's mystical appearance. It's located just off the main road, but overlooks a beautiful stretch of land dotted with trees and greenery. I usually go out at night due to the fac that i'm probably not allowed up there, which helps add to the experience. it's "inherently dissimilar from its surroundings." (Lane, p46) and helps me find myself
