Brendan McElroy Mt. St. Helen’s

One of the most favorite things I have hear about was the story of my uncle going to Mt. St. Helen’s just before it had erupted. He tells it as a funny story, but the things he encountered are simply amazing. He talked about camping out in the woods, with animals that could kill him, but him trusting that he would be ok. Or the fact that he was able to climb a mountain that then erupted only days later and destroyed so much of what he saw. It must be a great but upsetting feeling that he was one of the last who could experience that wilderness itself, but a somber memory because in an experience like that, you only hope others get that same chance. The pictures he has are what helps him remember the scenery and such. But it was a spiritual journey that has left a lasting impact on his life.
