Chad Adams - Outside Reading: Religion vs. Science

After reading Angels and Demons and blogging about it, I started thinking about the dilemma of religion vs. science that Brown shows through his novel. Since I have never really had an optimistic view of the church, I've always leaned heavily towards the science side. The thing about the scientific side is that it talks a big game, and then backs it up most of the time with evidence that really can't be argued. When something is scientifically proven, then there is no arguing that point. The church and religion talk a big game, but can't really back it up. It's all a sense of just listening and believing what you were told. If everyone listened and believed everything they heard, the world we know today would be incredibly different. I take the tangible things I have in life, such as my family and friends and do the best I can with what I have. If there's more then just this life, then I am confident that I would end up in that place called heaven. This confidence may come from the close relationship with the morals that were taught to me (which are the morals I beleive in) and the morals of my church.
