Brynne Valla--Natural Setting #2

A few days ago we went on the Noland Trail. After the rain subsided we began walking on the trail. Dr. Redick pointed out specific objects to ponder along the way. However, it was when we did our solo walk that I was really able to concentrate on my surroundings. I went back the direction we had come from to take another look at things I had overlooked. I noticed how all the bark of trees in one area of the trail were completely covered in vines. I also noticed a huge tree that reminded me of trees I like to climb in Colonial Williamsburg with friends over the summer. There were plants blooming that I had overlooked and sounds I hadn't heard before. It was interesting for me to only be able to really take in my surroundings when I was by myself. For some reason, just being in the presence of other people distracted me from having a natural experience.
