“What allows a site initially known to us as topos—a mere location, a measurable, quantifiable point, neutral and indifferent—to become a place available to us as chora—an energizing force, suggestive to the imagination, drawing intimate connections to everything in our lives?”(p.39)
I often ask myself how a certain place became such an important place in my life. Often it’s the smallest things that can change a place of topos to one of chora. Many places that have great meaning to me are the ones where you can escape my everyday life and relax and take in the world. It doesn't need to be the most powerful or beautiful place rather it only needs to be a place of sanctuary and a place where I can think about all of the things on my mind. I think all people have a place of meaning in the sea of meaningless places that helps them to becoming closer to themselves and the world around them.
