Kim Robinson - Assigned Reading # 2

"Moments like these, when we glimpse what seems most familiar to us with wholly new eyes, remind us that time -like place- is also experienced in multiple dimensions".. "To experience oneself simultaneously in a situation of chora and a moment of kairos is truly to encounter wonder." Giving Voice to Place Landscapes of the Scared page 41.

As I read this I wondered if I have ever experienced this 'wonder', this moment in time that is both repeatable and repeatable at the same time. If this past summer wasn't an opprotunity to encounter this wonder I wouldn't know what is. It was just like any other time I had spent with all my hockey friends from the field hockey team. We were just having fun and joking around, those girls were like my sisters. However, it was so different being down in the incredible place with them, it is something that will never happen again. The moment in time or kairos is just being down in the Dominican playing field hockey, something that seemed so ordinary to me with the same girls as every other day. However, being down there with them and experiencing something that none of us have had a chance to do is truly chora. Being down in the Dominican may happen again for me, but I will never be able to experience those exacts moments again, not with those people. After college we will go our seperate ways and even though we will stay in contact I doubt that I will keep in contact with all. I will never experience those same feelings again.
