My housing developement, Seven Lakes, started out as a horse area. It was mainly just a few wealthier families who raised horses and wanted a nice, quiet place away from the cities and all the noise. Over the years, the building has increased and we have way more people than we used to. Not only that, but most of them are younger families with little children. It is definitely more of a suburban living area now.
The problem is that all the new families want the horses gone. They think the horse trails and paddocks and barns are tacky. The Home Owner's Association is trying to convince the older families that have been there forever to get rid of the horses. And I just don't think that's right. That area was set aside specifically so that those people could have and raise horses. It was a beautiful area once, but with all the building that has gone on most of the land has been torn up. The horses were there first and I think they should be allowed to stay. All of the people who moved in after knew what they were getting into. Besides, the horses really don't cause any problems what so ever.
