“A sacred place is not merely a meaningful place; it is a powerful place because it is appropriated, possessed, and owned”
To think of a sacred place as powerful, is understandable because the power of the spirit needs do be present in order for the work do be done. But to think of a sacred place as possessed and owned is something I have never thought of. A sacred place being possessed means that it is moved or spurred by a stronger supernatural power. Thus meaning the actual place does not have its own power, but it is being controlled by some power. I would have always thought of the place having its own power which is what makes it sacred. But now I understand that the sacred place is controlled by something else. Also, it is owned by this power. Without this power, the place would not be sacred. It would not have the power or spirit and thus not impact the lives that roam among it.
