Reed Ruddy Meditating on the Creatures in Early American Life and Letters

While reading chapter two of Making Nature Sacred I found a particular paragraph which really made me think. Bradstreet discusses the many interconnected rivers and streams that all end at a single destination (the ocean) after traveling down different paths. She then goes on to state how similar this natural wonder is to the way various books describe ideas that are, although different, interrelate values and ideals that are shared amongst them all. This is a perfect natural display of how I believe religion is viewed in the world today. Although many different ideas and beliefs exist the same general rules are true for all religions and all religions end with one single destination. Just like the rivers and brooks interconnect at their final destination so do all religions lead down different paths that eventually end up in the same place.
