Patrick Gordon-Outside Reading The Beatles and Transcendental Meditation
I was reading Anthology (the book about the Beatles’ career, written with essays and interviews by the Beatles) when I came across the time when they started getting in to transcendental meditation. While taking a class in India, the late George Harrison even goes as far to say: “I believe I have already extended my life by twenty years. I believe there are Bods up here in the Himalayas who have lived for centuries. There is one somewhere around who was born before Christ and is still living now”. Now that sounds doubtful, but I looked up some facts and found that through long-term meditation you can reverse aspects that deteriorate, as you get older. Things like blood pressure, sensory motor performance, creativity, memory, and even quality of sleep improve. Now I doubt it will extend your life for thousands of years, but there are definitely benefits. But I bet it would help understand and experience places as sacred enormously! Now if only they didn’t charge for classes.
