Jake Frasier - Wilderness experiences on campus

Recently we have had some extremely nice weather. This weather has prompted many to go outside and experience nature. I followed suit and spent most of the weekend outside, and while I was walking around the beauty of our campus struck me. With the new season, so many flowers and trees have bloomed. Everywhere we go on campus we are able to be in contact with some part of nature. While it may be influenced by man, it can still provide valuable wilderness experiences. For example, the Great Lawn is somewhere that people enjoy spending there time during nice weather. There have been times when I've gone to the Great Lawn and just laid in the grass for several hours, just watching the sky and listening to the hustle and bustle around me. I think that having a campus with such beautiful surroundings is extremely important because without it, we would all be trapped inside our dorm rooms. We would never be able to experience the reciprocal interactions that nature has with us. CNU's campus provides a great alternative to true wilderness by creating areas for students to sit and enjoy nature.
