Colleen Cook-outside trip

I visited a labyrinth by Riverside Hospital. I was lucky to go on a day with wonderful weather. This helped my mind stay clear of everything except positive thoughts. I liked how there was a crazy, twisted path that led to the middle of the labyrinth like some kind of maze. As I walked the path I almost felt lost as to which direction I was heading. There was a sign though that I had read before walking. It said the path may look confusing but not to worry because it only led to one sacred place. After getting to the final destination, I stood in the center for a little bit looking back at the windy brick road I had followed. It made me think about my life and how it has been quite the windy road as well. I then realized the difference between my life’s path and the labyrinth’s was that it knew where it was headed but I have no idea what my life is headed toward. This caused me to think about how no one knows exactly where they are going in life but we all keep walking our paths. I followed this path out the same way I had come in and then continued on my journey. The more I walked around, more things reminded me of life, especially mine and what a gift it is. I saw flowers just beginning to bloom and squirrels running up and down trees. It was a peaceful and quiet place to be calm with no worries. At least for the time I was there I was stress free! Along the sidewalk there were stones engraved with quotes. I had heard some before but other ones were new. Albert Einstein’s quote read, “Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better”. This one stood out to me in particular because I believe the same thing. Nature and other natural things on this planet show us what we truly have and what is real. I think that if one can see and hear nature with an open mind then they will be able to see their own life’s wonders that they take for granted because that is what visiting this labyrinth did for me.
