Brendan McElroy - #1 Making Nature Sacred

While reading through Jonathan Edwards writings on Environmental Ethic, I came across a thought that he had. “…only after discovering the inward sense of grace could a soul being to understand its own part within the larger harmony of creation.”(pg.62) I spent much time thinking about what exactly Edwards was trying to say here. When I hear the word grace, it describes God to me. Grace is what describes the freely given, undeserving gift God gave us when his son died on the cross. This grace that he showed is a love that is unfathomable. So when analyzing what Edwards said, the inward sense of grace, is the part there your feel free and deeply loved. Once you are in the state of grace, it is easier for one to understand its role in creation. Living among the rest of creation in harmony means to live in an way that is orderly or pleasing to all. Harmony consists of everyone being together and unified. So it first takes one to find grace within one self in order to live in order to live together will all of creation.
